GUI

This page is describing all available toolboxes. Phänotyp is guiding you trough each step one by one. If a necessary step is done, the next toolbox is popping up.

Structure

The toolbox structure allows you to define the object that is used in all further steps. Please select a mesh in the view port and press set to define it as structure. All geometry within the mesh should be connected.

SciPy

If SciPy is available, this checkbox can be used to control whether it is used or not. SciPy needs to be installed manually into the python environment of Blender 3D. This is not necessary but can increase the performance drastically especially when working with a high amount of members.

Supports

Variable types of supports can be defined from within this toolbox. Each support can be fixed in rotation and translation on all axis. The structure needs to be fixed in each direction of course.

Profile and Material

Predefined materials are available. You can define different materials, diameters and much more to every single edge. Just select an edge, change the settings and press set.

Loads

Loads can be applied to vertices, edges or areas. Check out the different types within each category.

Calculation

This toolbox allows to render a single frame or an animation.

Optimization

Three types of optimizations are available at the moment. If you want to optimize a single frame, stick to this toolbox. The optimization algorithms are also available from within the genetic algorithm. Be aware that this optimization algorithms needs to run multiple times. Just hit one of them for about three times to start out.

Topology

The topology optimization can be used to reduce the elements of a structure by a given structural analysis. Switch to the automatically created modifieres to adjust the settings.

GA

The genetic algorithm toolbox is controlling all properties for the genetic mutation of the structure. At least two shape keys must be available at the object to open up this toolbox.

Analyse Ga

After finishing the genetic algorithm, this toolbox can be used to analyse and visualize the results.

VIZ

The visualization toolbox is available after one single frame has been rendered. It allows to analyse the model by force types and deflection in a visual manner.

Result

The toolbox results allows to take a close look on the geometrical fitness of the model as well as on forces within a member.

Report

Different types of reports can be created in HTML format. They will open up automatically in the standard browser.
